The vision of the Minnesota Women of Today is to research and develop opportunities for our organization to partner with other foundations to benefit communities at the local, district or state level. The organizations that are chosen, emphasize one of the core programming areas. Most of our Organizations We Support focus on women and children, but that is not always the case. We have partnered with March of Dimes, Jacob Wetterling Foundation, Children's Miracle Network, National Kidney Foundation, Lupus Foundation, Mary's Place in Minneapolis, Camp Friendship/True Friends in Annandale, Domestic Abuse Project, Mayo Clinic, Girls Scouts, Jeremiah Program, Katrina’s Kids, Operation Minnesota Nice, Stitches for Hope, Toys for Tots, Shriners Children’s Hospitals, Can Do Canines, Second Harvest Heartland, Ronald McDonald House, Ella’s Halo, Mothers Emerge Academy, Breaking Free, Ruff Start Rescue, Firefly Sisterhood, Wigs for Women, Wishes & More, Girls Lead, and so much more!
The focus of this programming area is to encourage chapter involvement that benefits their local community organizations or state-endorsed foundations; promoting a community-focused area of the SPM's choosing; and honoring chapters who have established Community Connections awarded at the MNWT Annual Convention. The area also promotes local and national programming programming areas that do not fall under any specific MNWT programming area.
This programming area runs for three (3) years, after which there is an opportunity for another non-profit organization to submit a bid. Its mission of this programming area is to assist the non-profit in creating community awareness about their program(s). This can be accomplished by using Social Media; participating in Fall State Vendor Fair & Expo; sharing the information with local schools, community groups and more; providing education about the importance of the organization and how it can help Minnesota communities; and supporting the organization through fundraising opportunities in local chapters and their communities.
This programming area encourages women to become more involved with their health and well being; promotes health education by providing challenges to chapter members encouraging participation with the added benefit of feeling better; educates women that Domestic Violence is a health issue, and reminds our membership that there are still numerous women, children and families in our communities impacted by domestic violence; and participates in walks that benefit women’s health issues like March of Dimes, Breast Cancer, Diabetes and ending hunger. This area supports the Outstanding Women Who Impact Award program.
This programming area promotes ideas and activities that allow youth to discover and experience the importance of volunteering. Chapters can partner with youth on a community project, offer a course on leadership, bullying or mentoring. This area supports the Outstanding Young Adult Award program, Kids Week and foundations related to youth activities.
